Duck Racer-Simplicity Is The Essence Of True Beauty
Officially speaking, there are
no plans, only a hull shape that you must conform to as specified in the
rules. You can build the boat any way you want, the most common and easy
method is the "nail and glue" method where you use a chine log to join
pieces of plywood. For a pictorial of how this is done, see the Building
Bucket Ears article. The PDRacer is a one design racing sailboat
that is basically a plywood box with a curved bottom, and is the easiest
boat in the world to build. Free plans, free club, all boats must have
have the lower 10" of their hulls be alike, but the rest is up to the builder.
You can put any type of sail rig or underwater fins that you wish. Also
the interior and deck above 10" is completely up to you. Many Other
Uses: Not just for racing, this is a great boat to use for recreational
purposes - and in most states a boat this small does not need to be titled
or registred. The hull shape carries 630 lbs, and if you build it with
the simple bow and stern airboxes, there is lots of room in the center
for people and gear.

eactly 9" (22.86cm) so check your dimensions after you print. Cut out,
match the lines, and trace onto your piece of wood. We recommend using
a hardwood like ash with a minimum thickness of 3/4" (19mm). The finished
yoke measures 4.5" x 39" (11.4cm x 99cm). Trim the overall length to match
your boat. Enjoy! JEM

| Daytrip Canoe: The
canoe can be build from 3 sheets of 6 mm plywood and can easily be transported
on a car roof. It easily loads two adults and a large picnic basket. The
stitch and glue building method will be an obvious choice. I would figure
that the canoe could be built in 2-3 days. It will have a hull weight of
approximately 25-28 kg. download canoe.zip

Touring Canoe:
If the need for a canoe is for longer trips on lakes and rivers this canoe
is perfect. It is a large canoe and it carries all your gear when your
plans are to stay long time on the water. The touring canoe can be build
from 4 sheets of 6 mm plywood. It is mainly an enlarged version of the
daytrip canoe so the building method would be the same. The time used for
building would be 3-4 days. The hull will have a weight of 32-35 kg. download

One board foot - A lumber
measurement. One board foot = 1" X 12" X 12". A piece of lumber 2" X 12"
X 12" = 2 board feet. When width and thickness are specified, lumber may
be called out as linear feet, i.e. 1" X 6" X 24 linear feet. Linear feet
is used when the the lumber will be cut into various lengths, as opposed
to a piece 1" X 6" x 24' which would be a single piece of wood. |
