| As we go through life, we
learn that safe cleaning products, which also make for cheap cleaning products
are those ingredients we usually have around the house. Murphy's oil
soap or Castile soap are great to use in cleaning recipes that call for
a "mild" soap. Olive or vegetable oil work to polish furniture with.
I have used baby oil with great results in the place of Scott's
Liquid Gold for my wood furniture to remove marks and hide scratches
and chips.
"Smell" is the secret to getting rid of unwanted pests. Ants hate cucumber peels. Next time you make a salad using cukes, drop some peelings along the ant trails in your home. Or use powdered scrubbing cleanser like Comet (dry) or powdered cinnamon. A mixture of Boric Acid ( usually used for eyewash) & plain sugar in a salt shaker, sprinkled under kitchen sinks & behind stoves is a safe easy way to get rid of roaches. Mothballs work miracles in area's where you have animals digging holes and burrowing. Its great for dog and cat control around shrubs. The neighbors hated us on really damp nights but we didn't have any problems with their dogs or cats spraying on our bushes. There are thousands of tips and hints too numerous to mention on one web page. Table salt poured in a ring around plants to protect them from grubs. The salt burns them so they will not cross the ring of salt. Epson salts used to fertilize flowering plants brings out brighter deeper colors in the blooms. Microwave cleaning made easy: you don't have to buy special poducts to clean your microwave. All you have to do is place a cup of hot water in it, run for 2 minutes, let sit for 2 minutes and it steams it clean for you. Just wipe out with paper towel and joila! The moist heat loosens all the splattered baked on stuff!

| Techniques you can use to
get rid of rust stains on concrete:
Oven Cleaner: also great for oil stains in cement or on asphalt in driveways, etc. Any product containing citric acid. Cream of tartar: apply to rust stain, let sit & rinse |
If your dog or cat gets skunked, you can remove the odor by bathing it in tomato juice or diluted vinegar. Products such as feminine douche also work well. With douche, just pour it on till soaked to the skin and dry excess with a towel. No need to rinse. | Grass: Rubbing alcohol

| For cleaning decks: hot water, any liquid cleaner you would use to wash clothes & bleach. The bleach removes stains, mildew & algae. It is the main ingredient in commercial deck wash. | To keep odor down in
the litter box mix in a small box of baking soda.
Want to keep pests out of garbage cans and gardens? Use mothballs around the perimeter of anything you want to keep "pet" or "pest" free. |

| Another rack cleaning method: cover rack with paper towels, place in garbage bag, saturate towels with ammonia, close tightly and allow to sit overnight. Rinse well the next day with hot water. | While vacuuming, to prevent those nasty odors, sprinkle the rug with baking soda. large jar of Nestea into your bath water
Athlete's foot - sprinkle cornstarch in your shoes and on your feet. To clean nubuck leather use a very fine sandpaper - brings it up like new. Salt and boiling water helps keeps drains flowing |

Wear an old, unmatched sock on your hand when I have to dust. Run along rails and doors until the sock is dusty enough to discard or wash and reuse. |
