Pennsylvania forests and
natural settings allow many archery hunters great success during archery
seasons in our state. Archery has historically been used in hunting and
combat and has become a precision sport. A person practicing archery is
called an archer, and one who is fond of or an expert at archery is sometimes
called a toxophilite. Please
report any dead links.

| PGC 2006...In January,
the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners gave final approval to a regulatory
change to permit the use of crossbows with bolts tipped with broadheads
of cutting-edge design during any turkey season. Previously, only
those disabled hunters with a permanent or temporary permit to use a crossbow
instead of a bow had this option. |
| PGC Regulation:
Crossbows
are required to have a draw weight of not less than 125 pounds, and not
more than 200 pounds; and that all crossbow bolts to be tipped with a broadhead
of cutting-edge design. |
| PGC Crossbow Definition:
"A device consisting of a bow fixed transversely on a stock, the string
of which is released by a trigger mechanism, has a mechanical safety and
propels an arrow." |
